Chester, Huston key Coatesville; Smuda drops 31 in Downingtown East win – updated

Coatesville 58, Bishop Shanahan 40 – Neveyah Chester scored a game-high 22 points and Sarah Huston cashed 17 to power the Red Raiders to the win Thursday night in the Ches-Mont League National Division opener for both teams.
For the Eagles, Sammie McCarter collected 12 points and Kathryn Greenhut added 10.

Downingtown East 56, West Chester East 30 – Bella Smuda lit up the gym for 31 points to help trigger a fast start that carried the Cougars to the Ches-Mont League National Division win. Lauren Klieber finished with 8 points to pace WC East, which never recovered after falling behind 11-2 in the first quarter and 26-8 at the break.

Andrea Prestianne connected for 21 points and Ellie Matthews scored 11 for Kennett, offsetting the offense production supplied by the Patriots’ Tessa Liberatoscioli (15 points).
 
Unionville 61, Interboro 26 – The Indians rode a fast start and balanced scoring attack to the nonleague romp as Anna Iacocca led the way with 10 points. Unionville raced out to leads of 20-10 after one quarter and 35-14 at the break to end the drama.
