Ches-Mont places six on all-state girls volleyball first team

Ches-Mont League and District 1-AAAA champion Bishop Shanahan and perennial Ches-Mont National Division powerhouse Avon Grove placed two players each on the 2016 Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State first team, it was announced Wednesday.

The Shultz sisters – junior Renee (setter) and freshman Cara (outside hitter) – were the selections for the Eagles, who were unbeaten until falling 3-1 to Exeter in the state semifinals. Senior outside hitters Chloee Kleepsies and Julia Crabtree were the first-team players from the Red Devils.

Other Ches-Mont selections on the prestigious list were Unionville senior outside hitter Alli Lowe and Downingtown West senior libero Gina Schetroma. Schetroma helped the Whippets place fourth in the district and qualify for the state playoffs.
