Carter lifts Great Valley by Oxford; Henderson breaks through behind Preston, Saulino

Great Valley 36, Oxford 28 – The Patriots used a dominating second half to pull away from a 22-all halftime standoff en route to the Ches-Mont League American Division win over the Hornets Friday in Malvern.

Damien Carter fueled the victory with his explosive multi-dimensional play, scoring the opening TD on an 18-yard pass from Jake Provost, adding a 55-yard TD run for the go-ahead score in the third quarter and picking up a first down on a fake punt to set up Warrick Parvis’ 22-yard field goal in the early going.

Also for the injury-decimated Patriots (3-0 league, 4-3 overall), who sit one game back in the win column to Unionville (4-0), Owen Banavitch caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Prevost following the recovery of an onside kick late in the first quarter.

The Hornets (1-3, 4-3) forged the halftime tie on quarterback Chandler England’s 10 yard TD run and 40-yard touchdown pass to Brandon DeShields. Brandon Holz had set up England’s scoring scramble with a 42-yard sprint into the Red Zone.

Henderson 24, Kennett 21 – CJ Preston ran for 163 yards and two TDs and quarterback Joe Saulino contributed 61 yards passing and a rushing TD as the Warriors (1-6, 0-3) broke into the win column with the Ches-Mont crossover victory over the Blue Demons (2-5, 0-3). Providing the final margin of victory for Henderson was Chris Roberts with a 43-yard field goal.
