Britt, Grintz hurl Downingtown West by D-East; Avon Grove blanks Coatesville

Downingtown West 4, Downingtown East 0 – Drew Britt and Adam Grintz combined on a five-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts while Eric Grintz and Stephen Posner crushed home runs to lead the Whippets to the Ches-Mont League National Division win over the Cougars Monday.
Adam Grintz blasted a two-run shot in the first inning to get D-West started before Britt and Adam Grintz took over to overpower D-East. Grintz struck out the side in the seventh to seal the deal.
Hugh Gagnon took the loss for the Cougars, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five in five innings of work.

Avon Grove 5, Coatesville 0 – Ryan Gerenser and Dan Luettgen combined on a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and Andrew Brady drove in two runs with a pair of doubles to lift the Red Devils to the Ches-Mont National win.
Bailey Smith chipped in with a pair of hits and one run scored for Avon Grove, which set the tone by grabbing a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Kennett 1, West Chester East 0, 8 innings– Ben Lesher’s dribbler in front of the plate went for the game-winning hit as the Blue Demons secured the narrow Ches-Mont crossover victory.
Lesher’s hit settled a tremendous pitching duel between the Vikings’ Adam Smith (13 strikeouts) and Kennett’s Logan Hall – neither of whom figured in the decision after both worked seven scoreless frames.
WC East loaded the bases in the top of the eighth but failed to get the clutch hit, leading to Lesher’s heroics

Justin Neskie pitched six innings for the win, allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out six and walking three before Matt Sumner came on to strike out the side in a scoreless, hitless seventh.

Henderson 6, Sun Valley 3 – Ian Tracy’s RBI-triple in the fourth inning snapped a 3-3 tie and carried the Warriors to the Ches-Mont crossover victory.
Tracy also doubled and was joined by Casey Caufield with a pair of hits for Henderson, which got two RBI from Thomas Caufield and strong pitching from winner Justen Lucas.
Vinny DeAngelo drove in a pair of runs for the Vanguards.
