Bock, Landis, Kane help Coatesville outslug Avon Grove; Downingtown East tops D-West

Coatesville 14, Avon Grove 12 – The unbeaten Red Raiders (7-0, 8-0) scored nine runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 9-5 deficit and held on down the stretch to secure the early season showdown between two of the Ches-Mont League National Division contenders Friday.
Kayla Bock went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer in the first inning, Payton Landis added three hits including a three-run homer and drove in four runs and Maggie Kane also picked up three hits in support of winning pitcher McKenna Sherman, who went three innings in the circle and aided her own cause with a pair of hits.
For the Blue Demons, Rachael Butler and Olivia Kunitsky each had a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored.

Downingtown East 7, Downingtown West 2 – Claire Kelly went the distance in the circle for the win, while Steph Jacoby, Sam Ponto and Val Ponto combined for 7 hits and four RBI and three runs to carry the Cougars to the Ches-Mont National victory over their crosstown rival Whippets, who got two hits including a triple and an RBI from Carly Grandizio.   
In the field, Val Ponto had a spectacular diving catch at third base, Faith Pitsikoulis made multiple outstanding plays at second and Claire Kelly supported her own cause with a beautiful backhand grab of a ground ball to hold a runner on third.

Rustin 8, Oxford 7 – Madison Fife and Tiffany Zavitsky had two hits apiece while Elena Ciarrochi (double) and Nicole Inforzato drove in two runs apiece in the Ches-Mont American win for the Golden Knights, who snapped a 4-4 tie with four runs in the sixth inning and held on down the stretch.
For the Hornets, Abbey O’Connor was 4-4 with three RBI while Gianna Coyle and Alexis Pearson had three hits and two runs scored each.

For the Eagles, Katy Newton went 3-for-3 while Hannah Keiper and Cat Rosfelder (triple) drove in runs.

Unionville 12, Great Valley 7 – The Indians captured the Ches-Mont American decision behind freshman pitcher Sydney Horan, whose three-run homer in the fifth inning reversed a 4-2 deficit. Analise Griffiths, Maddy Boorse and Amanda Panati had two hits each for Unionville.
