Avon Grove rallies to stay perfect on season

WEST GROVE – Avon Grove stayed perfect in three Ches-Mont League softball starts by coming from behind to edge Sun Valley 4-2 Friday.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the home fourth, the Red Devils drew even with a single run before moving in front with two more tallies in the fifth.

Maggie Balint went 2-for-3 with an RBI and delivered 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief to pick up the win, following starter Marissa Garguilo (3 1/3 innings, 5 hits, 2 unearned runs).

In addition to Balint, Alyssa Herion was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Logan Needham had a double to get the fifth-inning rally started, and Emma Daly collected a hit, walk and two runs scored.

The loss drops the Vanguards to 0-2 in the American Conference.
