Avon Grove rallies by Downingtown West; Oxford tops Unionville

Avon Grove 8, Downingtown West 4 – The Red Devils overcame a 4-2 deficit with four runs in the fifth inning and tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth to seal the deal in posting the Ches-Mont League National Division win Tuesday.
Kody Clausius delivered a two-run single to snap a 4-4 deadlock in the pivotal fifth, which featured a solo home run by Dan Luettgen (3-4, 3 runs). Also for Avon Grove, which extended its winning streak to three, Aiden Duda drove in three runs with a pair of hits while Jack Lincoln (2-4) and Clausius (2-3) chipped in with two RBI each.
For the Whippets (11-4), the four-time defending Ches-Mont National who fell one full game behind Downingtown East (12-3)  for the divisional lead with the two contenders squaring off Wednesday at D-East, Aaron Sipes drove in two runs and Drew Morse added a double and an RBI.
Oxford 3, Unionville 2 – Ryan Santangelo delivered a two-run double and Joey Morton followed with an RBI-single to trigger a three-run first inning burst that propelled the Hornets past the Indians in Ches-Mont American action.
Alex Schoessler went the distance for the win, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while walking three and striking out five. The Indians got both of their runs in the fourth inning on RBI from Jason Granato and Steve DeNucci.
